Investing in debentures? Our investor guide outlines what a debenture is, benchmarks to help you assess potential risks, and how to read a prospectus. |
Checking ASIC's databases
Check some basic facts about the people, companies or schemes you are thinking of dealing with before you:
Getting advice or buying investments
Is this person or company licensed by ASIC to give you advice or sell you this investment?
Buying insurance
Can this insurance broker or agent legally sell you insurance?
Product disclosure statements (PDS)
Ask the person you're talking to for the PDS of the product they're trying to sell you. A PDS should set out, clearly and concisely, enough detail about the product for you to compare a range of similar financial products so that you can make an informed decision about which ones to invest in. More about PDSs
